Forget the latest beauty treatments; Mums are now giving up their routine mani-pedi’s and regular haircuts to provide the best in baby food for their little ones.
New research, released today from Plum, the organic baby food brand, revealed that mums are willing to go to extreme lengths in order to make sure that their babies can eat top quality, organic food with over a third saying that they are happy to forego eating organic themselves to be able to afford luxury food for their babies.
Going a step further are the third of mums who said they are prepared to give up their favourite beauty treatments to feed their baby lavishly.
And this preference for organic food means baby’s tastes are becoming more adventurous. Over 60 per cent of mums said their babies preferred food from around the world to traditional British food with nearly a fifth of mums saying that their tot’s tastes were even more adventurous than their own.
And it’s not just a financial commitment; mums are also willing to invest as much time as necessary to hunt out their baby’s favourite organic fare with 17 per cent of parents saying they would visit four different shops to get their baby’s organic food if required.
Meanwhile, another one in ten admitted they’d be prepared to travel twenty miles to ensure the cupboards were full of the right food for the youngest member of the family. A committed one in twenty then spend two hours a day pureeing organic food for their babies.
In response to this, Plum, has opened the doors of the Plum Cookery School, fronted by celebrity chef, Rachel Allen. The cookery school will be releasing four web-isodes this week, to provide helpful tips and advice to parents going through the emotional and often confusing weaning journey.
Rachel, alongside weaning expert Beverley Glock, will show parents how to create a range of dishes especially designed for younger pallets that are versatile enough to feed the whole family.
