As the UK focuses on Anti-Bullying Week, one Sheffield-based author is making his own contribution to the health and happiness of children, by announcing the launch of ‘The Bride in Leafyland’, a new children’s storybook.
The book places a vital focus on bullying and how to tackle it. Told through a fictional story about a bride and her husband arriving at their new home in a picturesque landscape, surprises ensure when bullying breaks out in full force.

Following its captivating plot, with an abundance of twists and turns, the book’s conclusion spreads a serious message of action. Projected through a series of tools that children can use to take action against both physical and cyber bullies, the book is poised to form a vital part of a nationwide uprising against the increasing number of bullying cases.
Ibrahim, who has extensive experience working with children, said: “The entire story was designed to teach children along the way, including the would-be bully, the bullied and the spectator. It subtly shows that bullies can pick on the shy, the autistic disabled, the physically disabled, race, who may look/appear or dress differently."
The book also contains a pullout poster that teachers, school councils, parents and children can use to discourage bullying, displaying a clear message on school notice boards that it is ‘not cool’ to bully.
Ibrahim added: “The primary lesson is to equip any child to safeguard against bullying others and or being bullied, to recognise bullying and do something about it, coupled with interpersonal lessons in action and problem solving."
Critics are already praising Kaggwa for his book, with many framing it as the perfect awareness tool that both children and parents demand.
In fact, one reviewer fromTelios gave the book five-stars, whilst claiming that, “I was really amazed when I landed onto this book. It not only tells what bullying is or how to identify it, but also what to do about it, which is essential in today's society. While reading through it, I came to spots where I felt like...’God that happened to me’ and ‘Oh my God, I didn't even realise that I was being bullied.’ I would definitely recommend this to people of all ages.”
In all, The Bride in Leafyland makes a great group study book, as well as a valuable addition to any school library.
