Kids Want A Pet? Help A Charity and Make A Difference

Have the kids asked for a pet this Christmas? No need to worry about finding a puppy that won't need training, a bird that doesn't like to tweet till 3am and a goldfish that can do tricks!

If you're looking to buy the kids a pet with a difference then why not invest in an endangered animal from another part of the world? The packages you receive from charities like WWF are great keepsakes for the children.

They'll often include a cute goody-bag of teddies, stickers and posters representing the animal you have chosen to adopt.

If you don't think the kids are ready to help look after a real animal just yet (or you're worried that health issues like asthma will only be exasperated by a furry friend in the house) then why not adopt a dolphin, a gorilla, or even a donkey?!

Usually, the kids will receive postcards from their 'adopted' pet on special occasions and regular updates on how their pet is doing. Think of it as an animal pen pal! I'm sure there will be no one else in the playground able to say that they've got a pet koala bear!

If you've been thinking about giving to a charity this year, that's great news. Although Christmas is a warm and enjoyable time for most, it can be very bleak for many others.

It's not just animals that are often left outside in the cold at Christmas time, it's men, women and children from right on your doorstep to the farthest corner of the Earth. Think about what you can do to help anyone/thing in need during these cold winter months.

A charity donation or volunteer mission is best made when it's a choice that you can invest a certain amount of passion into, so choose something you really care about.

Be it environmentally friendly, caring for animals and children or giving back to your own community, helping a charity can really make you feel much happier about buying all that alcohol and food at cheap as chips prices!

You can do your bit to help good causes simply by purchasing a box of charity Christmas cards or perhaps surprising one of your friends with an ethical present. You can dedicate a tree to the Woodland Trust for just £15 and you'll be helping wildlife and woods. Www.woodlandtrustshop.com.

Finally, helping someone else out at Christmas time doesn't have to involve money or any grand gestures. Simply inviting that nice old lady 'Mrs J' from across the road to join in on your families Christmas festivities can help someone else have the best Christmas they've had in a long time.
