With the Easter school holidays coming up we here is a visitor attraction that will keep the kids enthralled as well as keeping Mums and Dads.
This Easter the Eden Project will be exploring the spiky, sticky, tricky and poisonous survival tactics of plants during Freaky Nature, which takes place from March 31 until April 15.
Freaky Nature returns with a variety of activities, exhibits and workshops where people can delve into the hidden plant world and investigate the ingenious tricks plants use to eat, drink, reproduce, outwit predators and enable humans to survive.
Visitors can throw themselves into the fascinating world of seed dispersal and copy a burdock seed by dressing up in a sticky outfit and hurling themselves at a fuzzy wall.
Younger participants have a chance to tackle the Survival Game and discover the freaky ways that plants defend themselves, feed and reproduce.
There’ll also be a chance to get up close and personal with plants and bugs using Eden’s giant microscopes, while little ones can join the fun by dressing as their favourite creepy crawlies at the Bug Boutique.
Eden will be exploring the dark side of plants too, including how and why some species have adapted to become sharp, toxic and even flesh-eating all in the name of survival.
There will be tours through the Rainforest and Mediterranean Biomes where an abundance of freaky plants and their clever methods of adaption can be seen.
Chris Pritchard, Assistant Programme Producer, said: “This year, we have a great variety of messy, sticky and freaky activities to show people more about the survival secrets of plants and how they in turn help us.
“Whether you’re a plant fanatic or a fan of freaky facts, you’re guaranteed to discover something new.”
The majority of activities are included in the entry price. To find out more about Freaky Nature, go to: http://www.edenproject.com/come-and-visit/whats-on/kids-and-families/freaky-nature
