Johnson's 10 Tips for Throwing a Successful Baby Shower:

1. Save the Date - Firstly, check when mum-to-be is free and whether she wants the party before or after the birth.

2. Get the guest list together - Make sure all her favourite girlfriends are invited - it’s a lovely reason to get everyone together.

3. Prepare to shower her with lovely gifts - Baby showers should provide mums-to-be with all the essentials that she’ll need to welcome her little one into the world. Send a list of suggestions including toiletries, clothes and toys round to the guest list so that you don’t have anyone doubling up on presents. Remember to buy her clothes for a range of ages so that baby is kitted out for months to come.

4. Find a comfy sofa or two - Keep the event as stress free as possible for mum-to-be by not holding the event at her house. Ask around her friends and family and see if anyone would be willing to host – all you need is a nice comfy seat for mum to be!

5. Party food - finger food is probably the easiest to prepare for a baby shower. Why not make a list and ask friends to each bring a plate? A cake always goes down well- are any of her friends budding bakers?

6. Decorate decorate decorate - Transform the venue into a beautiful haven with the help of a few lovely props and flower arrangements. Ask friends and family if they can each bring some flowers to help.

7. Keep her laughing - to keep things fun, why not play some baby- themed games?

8. Guess the celeb - Cut out some old magazine pictures of pregnant celebrities, fold back their heads and ask everyone to guess who's who.

9. Guess the name - If mum-to-be is willing, have a list of 20 boys and 20 girls names and promise a prize to whoever guesses the name correctly once the baby's born.

10. Relax - enjoy the party, and celebrate the arrival of the little bundle of joy!
