Ex-Asda worker turned singing sensation Jahmene Douglas has made a triumphant return to the supermarket chain, lending his vocals to their new Christmas advert on festive track 'When You're Smiling', made famous in 1929 by Louis Armstrong.
"I'm really excited to be involved in this magical ad and honoured to be covering this legendary track that has always personally inspired me to smile! It's always the little things that make you smile at Christmas and this ad is a wonderful celebration of just that." Jahmene said of working on the tune for the clip.
The advert premiered last night - November 6 - during an evening episode of Emmerdale and airing to an audience of around seven million.
Chief Customer Officer at Asda, Steve Smith said: "We're really proud of our Christmas brand campaign this year. It captures those personal touches and thoughtful gestures that put a smile on people's faces at Christmas. We know our customers want to go the extra mile to make their festivities special, and we want to remind them that we have put the thought and imagination into a range of fantastic food, wine, gifts and decorations so all they need to focus on is having fun together. It seemed like the icing on the Christmas cake to invite Jahméne to record the soundtrack and he's done a superb job of reworking When You're Smiling.
"Christmas is a time to concentrate on celebrating and having fun with friends and family and laughing. We wish all our customers a wonderful Christmas, full of smiles!"
