UKIP have been forced to expel a prominent local councillor who's understood to have links with a far-Right group it has emerged.
The political party was dismissed for "associating with a far-Right group" after her allegiance came to light in comments she made in an unbroadcast television interview.
Rozanne Duncan was dropped with immediate effect for 'clearly bringing the party into disrepute' whilst serving in Kent on Thanet District Council.
Her siding with the group came to light when her unknown comments were recorded in an interview, later described as "jaw-dropping".
It's a personal blow for party leader Nigel Farage as Thanet South is the constituency where he will personally stand at next year's General Election.
Miss Duncan had herself told journalists about Mr Farage's plans for the seat back in August, claiming: "It's the worst-kept secret in town."
She was taken out of the group on Saturday for breaking a rule which states a prohibition of "association with or membership of an organisation... incompatible with member of the Party" - she now has 4 weeks to appeal.
UKIP membership isn't permitted for current or former members of the following five groups - the British National Party (BNP), English Defence League (EDL), Britain First - a BNP splinter group - the British Freedom Party or UK First.
Duncan was a Conservative councillor in Thanet for several years, and first won the seat under a UKIP banner in May 2013, being just one of three UKIP representatives.
Party sources claim there was "no hesitation" in the decision to expel her when the matters came to light.
When elected, she noted that one of her concerns was that people had difficulty getting appointments with their GP because of the number of immigrants in the area.
A Tory councillor in the same ward of Cliftonville East, Martin Wise told the Daily Mail: "I'm not surprised she has got herself into trouble as she has a long history of it. She was a member of the Tory group going back 20 years or more, and had to resign a few years ago under very dubious circumstances, in relation to a planning issue.
"Sticking her foot in her mouth, as it sounds as though she's done, is quite like her."
Another Tory councillor, Simon Moores added: "Everyone is waiting with bated breath to see what this is about, but if it is sufficiently offensive that she is ejected from UKIP it must be pretty bad.
"If someone was going to commit a political indiscretion of major proportions, I'm not surprised it was Rozanne Duncan. She is not someone who would ever be selected for the modern Conservative party."
UKIP wouldn't comment on the organisation she was associated with, stating it's an "internal party matter".
A spokesperson added: "UKIP is expelling Rozanne Duncan for bringing the party into disrespute. She has 28 days to appeal."
Miss Duncan has not made a comment.
This row is just one in a string and comes days after Basildon South UKIP candidate Kerry Smith resigned over a series of slurs in which she described a Chinese woman as "Chinky" and homosexuals as "disgusting".
The party was also forced to speak out when the Rochester and Strood MP Mark Reckless suggested UKIP would like migrants who have settled in the UK for a number of years to be repatriated.
