Two pensioners and their 16-year-old granddaughter were amongst those killed in the Glasgow lorry crash yesterday, it has been revealed.
Jack and Lorraine Sweeney and teenager Erin McQuade were mourned by relatives online today as the investigation into what caused the accident by the police continued.
It's believed the family were among shoppers in the city's George Square when they were struck yesterday lunchtime by the council lorry.
Police have now confirmed that there was one male and five females killed in the crash, but haven't confirmed all of the ages of those killed.
The truck mounted a pavement crammed with pedestrians, knocking them down and thundering towards the city's main square, where more civilians were hit.
Finally stopping after slamming into the Millennium Hotel on George Square, shocked onlookers erupted into hysteria.
A statement this morning from Police Scotland reads: "As a result of the collision, six people died and 10 people were injured, including the driver.
"Seven casualties were taken to hospital by the ambulance service, two walked into hospital and one was treated at the scene.
"There are currently six people in hospital being treated for their injuries. Two have been moved to the Intensive Therapy Unit for further monitoring. The deceased includes one male and five females."
Private ambulances were seen early this morning leaving the area and the lorry has now been removed from the scene.
St George's Tron Parish Church today hosted a special service.
