A British ventriloquist has triumphed on America's Got Talent. Zerdin, who began practising his craft as a 10-year-old when a family friend made him a puppet theatre, won $1m (£645,120) and a show at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas.
"I can't believe it. It's the most amazing feeling and I thank everyone so much for voting for me," said Zerdin in a Vine posted on the show's Twitter feed.
The ventriloquist has previously performed at the Royal Variety Performance in the UK, but first performed on stage as a magician on BBC's Tricky Business, and then went on to host Rise and Shine for GMTV.
Two other performers from the UK - Stevie Starr, the 'Professional Regurgitator', and magician John van der Put - featured in the top 10 of this year's America's Got Talent, which is produced by Simon Cowell's production company and features Spice Girl Mel B as a judge.
