Mayday Parade is gearing up for the UK release of their third full-length album, the eponymous ‘Mayday Parade,’ on 5th March 2012 through Independent Label Group.
On its release in the US the album debuted at #12 on Billboard’s Top 200 (their highest debut ever) and at #5 on iTunes album chart, and also marked the band’s highest sales to date. The band have also been confirmed to play this year’s Slam Dunk festival 2012 and will also be embarking on a tour supporting You Me At Six. See below for details.
Co-produced by Zack Odom and Kenneth Mount, ‘Mayday Parade’ marks a return to their songwriting roots; the entire album was self-written in a collaborative effort by the five band mates.
The 12-song collection transpired through careful introspection and it echoes the musicians’ evolution over the two years since their second album, ‘Anywhere But Here’. The band chose to pen each of the songs themselves, making the album perhaps their most personal to date, complete with relatable lyrics and their undeniable charm.
Mayday Parade first burst onto the scene with their 2007 debut ‘A Lesson in Romantics’, which received immense praise from critics and fans alike. AbsolutePunk claimed it was sure to become 'one of your most played [albums] of the summer.'
It went on to sell more than 170,000 copies and reached the Top Ten on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. Mayday Parade is vocalist/piano Derek Sanders, bassist Jeremy Lezno, guitarists Alex Garcia and Brooks Betts and drummer/vocalist Jake Bundrick.
