Buster Shuffle’s eagerly anticipated second album, ‘Do Nothing’, is set for release on June 4th. This is preceded by the release of the double A-side single launch party at the London International Ska Festival (O2 Shepherds Bush Empire - May 5th).
‘Do Nothing’ consists of twelve supremely inventive, expertly constructed songs that should cement Buster Shuffle's fast-growing reputation as new kings of the feel-good, super-melodic ska-tinged pop that Madness used to do so well. Listen to ‘Made in China’ and ‘English Way’, or the relentlessly imaginative, high-octane ‘Come In’ and ‘Elvis Vs Wag’ for proof.
There are subtle nods to Brit-pop giants, Blur, too, in the insanely catchy ‘Around Here’, and parallels to be drawn with Ian Dury and The Blockheads and even The Kinks, particularly in the magnificently raunchy ’15 Again’.
The band have been ‘mixing it up’ creatively, too, and the album features a number of collaborations with legendary characters from classic bands (Micky Gallagher of The Blockheads/The Clash and Roddy Radiation of The Specials) as well as contemporary indie and dance acts (Ian Catskillkin of Art Brut and Wag of The Infidels), lending the record a truly unique flavour and a broad appeal which effortlessly transcends generations.
Buster Shuffle has spent the majority of time since the 2011-release of their debut album impressing larger and larger audiences across Europe.
A series of scintillating performances at a string of high-profile festival slots in Germany, together with a fantastic response from support tours encompassing Holland, Switzerland, Belgium, Denmark and the Czech Republic, has provided the platform from which the band has gone on from strength to strength, now regularly playing to their own sell-out crowds around the continent.
Back home front man, Jet, has become a regular on Danny Wallace’s XFM show and the band’s already-healthy fan-base has continued to expand, gigging with a fantastically eclectic range of established acts including The Rifles, The Blockheads, Shed Seven, The Wombats, The Beat, The Selecter and, at a sell-out IndigO2 in London, Chas and Dave.
