Former Kiss Star Loses Bankruptcy Protection Appeal

Former Kiss star Vinnie Vincent has lost an appeal that could have helped him stave off bankruptcy following a court battle with his ex-bandmates.

The guitarist, real name Vincent John Cusano, was barred from seeking bankruptcy protection from paying more than $81,000 (£54,000) to Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons after unsuccessfully suing them for royalties in 1997.

In court, he alleged Simmons and Stanley owed him royalties for his work on 1983 album Lick It Up, but a federal judge in Los Angeles ruled against him and awarded the defendants fees and costs amounting to $81,000.

Vincent took the case to an appeals court, but lost, according to Courthouse News Service.

Scorpions Stung By Singer's Illness

German rockers the Scorpions' farewell tour has been hit by illness - singer Klaus Meine is suffering a chest cold and has been told he can't perform until Thursday (01Jul10).

The diagnosis has prompted the Rock You Like a Hurricane hitmakers to cancel a performance in Columbus, Ohio on Wednesday (30Jun10).

Meine is expected to be ready to take to the stage again on Thursday in Detroit, Michigan.

A statement from the band reads, "It is with a heavy heart that we have to disappoint our longtime, devoted fans in Columbus, Ohio by not being able to perform there. Klaus' doctors have told him in no uncertain terms that he needs the proper rest so he can shake the bug and successfully continue the tour."

Cinderella, the Scorpions' support act for the cancelled show, will perform a free show for Ohio fans.

Dazed & Confused Page Target Of Copyright Infringement Suit

Led Zeppelin Guitarist Jimmy Page has been targeted in a copyright infringement lawsuit by an American folk singer, who alleges the band's hit single Dazed And Confused was illegally sampled from his earlier version.

In a Federal lawsuit obtained by TMZ.com, folk singer Jake Holmes claims he obtained a copyright for Dazed and Confused in 1967 - two years before Led Zeppelin recorded their version of the song.

But, due to the statute of limitations, Holmes is only able to sue for damages from the last three years.

Holmes wrote and recorded Dazed and Confused for his debut solo album The Above Ground Sound, which was released in 1967. Page reworked the song for The Yardbirds, and subsequently Led Zeppelin in 1968.

Led Zeppelin hold a separate copyright, which the folk star now disputes.
