Rockers U2 marked the Global Day of Action for Iran by showing footage from the country's civil war during a hometown show in Dublin, Ireland on Saturday.
The Irish group joined Nobel Laureates and human rights groups around the world by calling for a United Nations intervention in Iran's troubles whist other rallies were held In 100 cities across the globe.
Videos and messages by peace leaders were taped by internet phone service Skype or simple consumer cameras and transmitted electronically to the organisers during the show at Croke Park, Dublin.
U2 performed their anthem Sunday Bloody Sunday, while projecting a solidarity video for Iran.
During a rally in San Francisco, California, which was transmitted live over the internet for the world and the people of Iran to see, organiser Arman Jahangiri received a Twitter.com blog stating that people in Iran were on their rooftops chanting, "Brave neighbours, thank you for your support."
