2010 has been a year of blistering success for Twin Atlantic, seeing them in unbeatable live form, and sharing tour billings with the hugely influential names they have so long admired. In the course of a ceaseless global tour schedule, the Glasgow champions have performed to a 1250 strong capacity hometown crowd at the ABC, toured alongside Enter Shikari across Europe and completed a mammoth US Tour.
This month sees the band playing their biggest shows so far. Having delivered triumphant home soil performances on the main stages Rockness and Belladrum Festival and accepted a personal UK tour invite in June from The Gaslight Anthem, Twin Atlantic have capped it all with Blink-182 support slots on their massive upcoming UK and Ireland dates in Aberdeen, Glasgow and Dublin.
Sam McTrusty (vocals, guitar) said, “I think it's fair to say we are pretty shocked but really excited to have been picked to support Blink-182 this summer. Like most rock fans who were 13 in 1999, I was a massive fan of the band and I grew up with them being a soundtrack to pretty much everything thereafter. At the risk of sounding cheesy but being completely honest it is a little bit of a dream come true scenario.”
To coincide with their upcoming dates supporting Blink-182, Twin Atlantic has partnered up with Big Live to exclusively stream footage of their February headline show at the Glasgow ABC. It also includes a taste of “I Cave In” - a track not available on their debut release, Vivarium - for those hungry fans who have been asking how to get hold of the live favourite. Big Live provides a social viewing experience, where fans can discuss concert footage in real-time with others who are currently watching, and the site will be streaming the whole performance from 24 August onwards at BigLive.com
Fan engagement has been crucial to Twin Atlantic's growing worldwide success, and the collaboration with Big Live rewards the dedicated following the band has built up through a relentless 17 country tour schedule. Sam McTrusty says, "Our fans are incredible, but we know that when we do support shows it's not always possible for everyone to come down to see us. Working with Big Live is a great way to connect with anyone who missed the gig.”
In addition to this exclusive streaming and the Blink-182 dates themselves, Twin Atlantic are pleased to also announce two additional gigs in Cork (29 August) and Derry (30 August), meaning that there are now more opportunities than ever to catch a band who are at the peak of their powers.
