Ever since boys sang songs, they sang them about girls. Asking Eleanor to put her boots back on; hearing the wind cry Mary; asking Rhonda for a hand; seeing Emily play and Sheila taking a bow inspired various musicians to put pen to paper and fingers to instruments, to create lengthy love letters to Laura and paeans to particular Peggys. They weren't usually as obvious as you may think though, did Kurt write about Courtney or Polly? Did Mick write about Jerry or Angie? Did Noel write about Meg? Did Michael write about Billie Jean or um, never mind that one...Matt Bishop of Switches is no exception over the years he's written a fair few songs about women from his town, the corners of his mind or just lying around (the songs that is, and perhaps the girls too, who knows, you'll have to listen to find out). So many in fact that they won't fit on the Switches album, so they band are going to release them for free. Every fortnight for the next four months, Switches will make a new song available somewhere online to download. All the songs will eventually be available in their Switches online singles club section at www.switchesmusic.co.ukOnce all the songs are released, they'll be compiled as an album, so Switches need photos of appropriately named ladies for the cover artwork. Here's a heroine cheek-y request, if you're named in any of the songs, please post a photo of yourself up in the appropriate section of www.switchesmusic.co.uk. Of course, in the appropriate gentlemanly fashion, there'll be a reward for any used.
