Simmons: 'Kiss Are More Famous Than Mickey Mouse'
Rockers Kiss more famous than Mickey Mouse, according to bass player Gene Simmons.
The colourful star insists the Kiss brand is so recognisable, it trumps all other musical acts and cultural icons including Disney's most famous creation.
And it's all thanks to the way Kiss have been marketed over the years.
Simmons says, "You don’t know how big the image is. By some experts, it is believed to be the most recognized pop culture image on Earth - even above Mickey Mouse.
"You know, there’s no U2 comic book, there’s no Mick Jagger action figure. We have our own Visa card. You can go into Wal-Mart and get sweets with our faces on. We have a Dr Pepper soft drink campaign now. It’s unbelievable!"
The Absence Drummer Injured In Car Crash
Death metal band The Absence's drummer Justin Reynolds is recovering after he was injured in a car accident.
The musician was driving in Sarasota, Florida last month (Apr10) when he crashed his vehicle, sustaining injuries to his back and neck.
While Reynolds receives treatment and recuperates, fellow Florida drummer Matt Solka is temporarily replacing him in the line-up.
In a statement, Reynolds' bandmates say, "We wish our friend best of luck and a speedy recovery and hope he's back doing what he does best soon."
