Sid Vicious

Sid Vicious

The man who sold Sid Vicious the heroin that killed him has announced that he feels "no guilt" 30 years after the hellraising rocker overdosed.

Vicious - real name John Ritchie - died in a New York apartment on 2 February 1979, just a day after he was released on bail after being charged with the murder of his girlfriend Nancy Spungen.

In a new documentary, Sid, By Those Who Really Knew Him, drug dealer Peter Gravelle admits he sold Vicious drugs the night before his death. But he feels no remorse, telling documentary makers, "If he hadn't got it from me, he would probably have got it from someplace else."

Gravelle adds, "I got woken up by a flatmate (roommate) telling me that my friend's face was all over the newspaper. I ran put, picked up a newspaper and Sid was dead. Sid took a lot of chances. But he was too young to die. I never expected him to die."

The documentary will air in the U.K. in March, and I’m sure some people are going to be somewhat pissed off with Peter’s remarks. I wouldn’t like to be in his shoes.
