Rose's Guitar Hero Lawsuit Heading To Trial
A judge in Los Angeles has given Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose permission to move forward with his lawsuit against the manufacturers of the popular Guitar Hero video game series.
The singer filed a $20 million (£13.3 million) lawsuit against bosses at Activision Blizzard last year (10), alleging they reneged on the terms of a deal to include a Guns N' Roses song in Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock.
Rose claims he only let Welcome To The Jungle be included in the game if Activision bosses agreed not to team it with any images of the band's former guitarist, Slash.
The rocker has filed suit over allegations company executives broke that promise by featuring "an animated depiction of Slash" on the cover of the game.
The case went to court on Thursday (10Mar11) and after a brief hearing, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Charles Palmer agreed the lawsuit can proceed and scheduled the trial for 23 January, 2012.
Kid Rock Keeping Relationship Quiet
Kid Rock has found love again after his divorce from Pamela Anderson - but he's keeping his new girlfriend's identity a secret.
The rocker, real name Robert Ritchie, married the Baywatch beauty in 2006 but their relationship ended just a year later (07).
Kid Rock has since moved on with a new woman - but he refuses to name her because he wants to keep their relationship from the media spotlight.
When asked if he's dating "anyone special", he tells Piers Morgan, "Yes. You know what happens - you put these people out there, and you declare your love for them and the press gets interested and sometimes it destroys somebody else's life. What if that doesn't work out for that other person?
"This is somebody who is not a celebrity, it can really be a tough thing to deal with. I'm thinking of somebody else (and) trying not to be so selfish. It's better in the end. Whatever it's gonna be it's gonna be. Things go one way or another (but) at least she's protected."
The Cowboy hitmaker has also refused to rule out settling down with his partner, adding: "Would I get married again? Right now I'd say no. But I've learned never to say no."
Doherty 'Too Drunk' To Remember Shop Break-In
British rocker Pete Doherty has told cops in Germany he was "too drunk" to remember what happened on the night he's accused of burglary at a record shop.
The Libertines frontman and two pals were allegedly seen breaking into the Shadillac store in Regensburg in the early hours of Tuesday (08Mar11).
A guitar and records worth a total of $2,780 (£1,850) were stolen in the raid. The Ibanez guitar and the empty CD cases were found near a church in the city the following day.
Doherty and an unnamed man from Berlin were quizzed by Regensburg police officers on Thursday (10Mar11), and the rocker confessed he was at the scene and that one of his group smashed a window of the shop.
But he insists he cannot remember any more details of the incident as he had been drinking in bars in the Bavarian city throughout Monday evening (07Mar11), although he's adamant he didn't steal any items.
Doherty and his pal were released pending further inquiries. The third man has not yet been questioned.
A source tells us, "Doherty said they had drunk a lot and were on their way home. He said one of them broke a window at the store but it wasn't intentional and he didn't steal anything. He doesn't really know exactly what happened because he was so drunk."
Paul Di'anno Jailed For Benefit Fraud
Former Iron Maiden Singer Paul Di'anno has been jailed for nine months for fraudulently claiming $67,500 (£45,000) in welfare benefits.
The 52-year-old rocker, who left the band in 1981, admitted swindling the British government out of the money by falsely claiming nerve damage to his back prevented him from working.
Di'Anno - real name Paul Andrews - was found to have continued performing gigs while he was claiming state handouts and pleaded guilty to wrongfully claiming income support, housing and council tax benefit between 2002 and 2008.
The singer appeared at Salisbury Crown Court in Salisbury, England on Friday (11Mar11) and was sentenced to nine months behind bars.
Judge Jane Miller QC, who was overseeing the case, told the star, "Your greed has cost this country a lot of money. The claims were for a long time and for a large cost... It took many years to track you down. In 2007 you performed at 69 venues, in 2006 you performed 67 times. I do not accept you only got expenses."
