You would think Poison star Bret Michaels would be ready and willing to rock out in any weather, but he decided to cancel a gig for U.S troops in Kentucky on Sunday night after a spot of rain.

Okay, so it was more of a torrential downpour and heavy thunderstorms that ruined the show at the Fort Campbell Army Base, in Fort Campbell, Kentucky, leaving organisers with no choice but to scrap the concert at the last minute after the town was hit with severe weather conditions.

Michaels has apologized to the soldiers, but insists the move was a necessary one.  He writes on his official website, "Unfortunately, due to severe thunderstorms and inclement weather, the commanding officer/event coordinator and promoter mutually agreed, to cancel the performance at the Ft. Campbell Army Base due to risk of injury to fans due to weather conditions.

"The venue was expecting a large turnout. This is especially disappointing to Bret as he is a huge supporter of all our men and women in the armed forces and he had a very special performance planned for the troops returning from Iraq as well as the civilians attending the show."
