2009 is looking hot for rock newcomers. Here is our low-down on the top bands to surface for 2010.
The Amity Affliction
These six Aussie lads, hailing from Brisbane look like a bunch of liquored up brutes that could drink you out of house and home and make a racket while they’re at it. In essence, these lads are a perfect fit for their album, Severed Ties. Amity Affliction are already huge in the hardcore/alternative scene in Australia and they are currently on tour with We Are The Ocean and going down a storm.
They will be recording a new album in April 2010 in New York and will be bombarding the UK with tour dates. Keep your ears and eyes open while these rock stars tear up the UK airwaves with their exciting screamo/punk/rock sound.
For fans of: Enter Shikari, Senses Fail, Funeral For A Friend
Wall Street Riots
London-based band of rabble-rousers Wall Street Riots are an exciting new (yet, freakishly familiar) sound made up of childhood friends Karnig (Guitar), Mike (Bass), Charlie (Vocals) and Richard (drummer).
They have an eclectic taste in music and you’ll find sounds that have clearly been inspired from people as different as Lily Allen to System of a Down, with a lot of Electro and Bassline thrown in for good measure.
Their boisterous track ‘One More Ride’ delivers an exhilarating vocal rollercoaster from Charlie whilst the others thrash it out to create the unequivocally infectious tune.
For fans of: The Automatic, Orson
We The Kings
We The Kings are a fun outfit of four long haired lotharios Travis, Hunter, Drew and Dan. It’s no surprise that these four super beautiful boys hail from the sunshine state of Florida, with their upbeat rock melodies. There’s always a career in the hair products business if all fails for the lads, although, with catchy hooks and guitar rhythms like theirs, it’s doubtful that they’re going anywhere other than up. These boys are hot contenders for 2010 stardom.

Lonely The Brave
This 4-piece from Cambridge are bursting at the seams with fast-paced, heart-felt rock. Mo, Dave, Bush and Trotter are really in it for the music and creating beautifully raucous rock by the barrel full. Heavy beats combined with Dave’s powerful and emotional vocals make this band one to watch for 2010.
For fans of: Biffy Clyro, Rise Against
The Flood of Red
Marry together classic bass lines with harmonic vocals, inspiring lyrics and heavy drum beats and you have yourself a band called The Flood of Red. The band, made of 6 Glaswegian rockers Jordan (vocals), Graeme (Drums), Calum, Jamie (Bass), Sean (Guitar) and Dale (Electronics, vocals) have just come back from touring with Madina Lake and Enter Shikari and will be releasing their album in July 2010.
