Grateful Dead star Bob Weir has teamed with a symphonic orchestra to rework his former supergroup's music for an upcoming "once-in-a-lifetime" concert.
The singer/songwriter has announced plans for a special one-off orchestral Grateful Dead gig with the Marin Symphony Orchestra in May.
The concert will take place on 7 May (11) at the Marin Center in San Rafael, California.
Weir will orchestrate the music with Stanford University's Dr. Giancarlo Aquilanti. He says, "Part of what makes this interesting is that it's not just going to be an orchestra playing Grateful Dead songs. I'm going to be playing too... and some other guys,
and there's going to be real interaction between the symphony and us."
