Tork Monkees star Peter Tork was stunned when doctors told him he was suffering from a rare and deadly form of cancer - because he's the world's cleanest-living rock star.
The 67-year-old singer underwent surgery last week to remove a cancerous growth from his tongue, and he’s now recovering, hopeful the operation removed all the cancer cells from his body.
But Tork can't understand how he ended up with the disease, because he's the healthiest person he knows. The star's spokeswoman Therra Cathryn Gwyn says, "Peter was shocked to learn he had cancer, because he has absolutely no bad habits. He doesn't smoke or do drugs or drink, and he watches everything he eats."
Tork is hoping to back onstage with his band Shoe Suede Blues in June. We wish him all the best.
