Tour Postponed

Swedish rockers Arch Enemy have postponed their upcoming U.K. tour because of the travel chaos resulting from Iceland's volcanic eruption.

The band was scheduled to kick off the string of shows around Britain next week (begs26Apr10), but have decided to push the shows back until November (09). A statement from the band reads, “Sorry to all our great U.K. fans, but the tour we had scheduled for next week has unfortunately been postponed ’til November 2010.

"As we all know, it’s been a tough time in Europe with the volcanic ash shutting down airspace in 23 countries and causing travel misery for millions of people. One minute airports are open – the next they are not. We are determined to make these shows work but don’t want to disappoint our fans, so it has been mutually agreed upon that the best way forward is to postpone the U.K. dates ’til November.”

Airspace across northern Europe was closed for nearly a week following the eruption last Wednesday, leaving millions of passengers stranded. More than 63,000 flights were grounded because of the thick ash clouds hovering in the skies above the continent.
