Earth, Wind & Fire Step In After Franklin Cancels Festival Appearance
R&B Icons Earth, Wind & Fire stepped in to replace soul legend Aretha Franklin when she pulled out of a performance at a Louisiana music festival on Friday (30Apr10).
Franklin was due to headline the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, but told organisers she wouldn't be able to perform just 24 hours before she was billed to hit the stage, giving no reason for her cancellation.
Festival bosses were left struggling to find a replacement, when last year's (09) headliners Earth, Wind & Fire stepped up and offered to fill the slot. The Boogie Wonderland hitmakers were already in the area, ahead of a gig in nearby Biloxi, Mississippi on Saturday (01May10).
Derulo Wants Glee Role
R&B star Jason Derulo is lobbying for a guest spot on TV hit GLEE, insisting he'd make the perfect class clown.
Derulo admits he's a huge fan of the musical show, and would love the chance to try his hand at acting as well as singing.
He says, "I’d like to play the goofy, funny guy."
The Watcha Say hitmaker insists he's had plenty of practise, fooling around during his own school career. He adds, "I did joke around a lot, and I did get in trouble for joking around all the time."
