Sparrow & the Workshop are back this week with their great new single Shock Shock which comes ahead of the release of their third album later this year.
And if Shock Shock is a taster of where the band are going with this new album then we are going to be seeing band going down quite an exciting new path in terms of their sound.
Shock Shock sees the band mix tinges of folk with rock elements that creates a track that has an intriguingly rich sound.
This track mixes distorted guitar hooks with a rumbling bass line and this is the perfect back drop to Jill O’Sullivan’s quite haunting vocal.
O’Sullivan’s vocal on this track is beautiful and almost has an ethereal quality to it - which is the perfect contrast to the rockier backtrack.
This is just one of the tracks that washes over you and you get carried away with as O’Sullivan’s vocal really is just captivating.
It is great to see this trio experimenting with their sound with this new track and I am very excited to hear what the rest of their upcoming album is going to hold.
