After 2 years of touring the globe, Acid Washed return with a new single Fire N’ Rain, a unique track that is electronica in its purest form. Their new album House of Melancholy is set for release on the 29th of July via Record Makers. The album was produced by Joakim and features a host of guests including Miss Kittin, Turzi, Yan Wagner and Hypnolove’s Henning Specht.
The song is definitely unusual and unlike anything I have heard, which is probably because I am not too familiar with house or electronica music. The rhythmic song has a simple melody with a mixture of bongo and conga drums and rich baselines to dictate the songs pulse.
There is a reverb of echoes chanting a chorus of ‘Fire and rain….’ The song extracts elements of different genres including new wave, punk, pop and electronica. The duo effortlessly pushes the boundaries with this song, which will find its place in modern day club culture.
There are six different remixes of this track including a Kaytranada edition, Stuff remix, Scratch Massive remix, Theatre of Delays remix, the KDMS remix and the Radio Mentale & Laure Milena Ambient remix. After listening to all of the remixes I still prefer the original song but if I had to pick my favourite remix version it would be the KDMS remix.
The song Fire N Rain and the whole album of House of Melancholy is available to stream and listen to via the band’s sound cloud page.
