It’s time for Miles Kane’s turn in the spotlight.
Some artists are ahead of their time, some are musically present and some have roots that are firmly planted in the past. Miles Kane is one of those artists, his sound is oozing with a seventies vibe which creates a feel of nostalgia. Even though the song sounds dated it actually makes a lasting impression.
Miles Kane has already spent nearly ten years making music, with The Rascals and The Last Shadow Puppets. Now that he is going it alone he is trying to differentiate himself as a solo artist. His leading single Taking Over is distinctive enough to achieve this.
Accompanied by a hot, sweaty, alcoholic beverage filled video, Taking Over is a stomping track that is reminiscent of the wonderful world of Rock N Roll records of the seventies. With its eclectic riffs and roaring bass line, this song has a lot of potential for success. Kane’s vocals are smooth, wistful and powerful. The song is bold, brass and catchy. With short, punchy and memorable hooks the song is a lot of fun.
His new album Don’t Forget Who You Are has already struck a chord with the big name magazines and newspapers. NME, The Independent, The Times and The Guardian have given the album four stars and Q added that ‘it’s time for Miles Kane’s turn in the spotlight.’
Taking Over is available to pre-order now, or you can buy it from the 19th August.
