Janet Devlin has emerged from under the musical rock she's been hiding with a brand new single - 'Wonderful'.
The young Irish star was on 'The X Factor' in 2011 - where she's recently said she felt pressured to get emotional during the judge's houses stage - and eventually ended up finishing in fifth place on the show out of the tens of thousands who auditioned.
Her debut single was co-written with Newton Faulkner, and is a joyous and upbeat offering - far from many's preconceived image of her being just a soppy ballad singer.
It's semi-generic, but what this song manages to prove is that she's able to manipulate her unique tone to a pop song as well as those slower songs, and still remain vocally present while doing so.
This is a great first attempt at success from someone who seems likely to have a growing niche audience and fans, with potential for global recognition.
