Dub's not dead!
Leeds based nine-piece Gentlemen’s Dub Club, are a combo who, as the name suggests, specialise in dub with a hint of reggae. The group have been making quite a name for themselves recently, their new single Give It Away is a stonking single guaranteed to get you moving on the dance floor.
The song opens with synth heavy beats that demand your attention. The song then builds up to an unrelenting crescendo of heavy grooves. I am not an expert or a fan of dub step but I think the band hit the nail on the head with this song. It has everything that dub step should have - wobbles, drops and heavy bass.
Having wowed crowds of people with their music, Gentleman’s Dub Club only have a couple of releases under their belt and have already stormed festivals such as Glastonbury, V and Croatia’s Outlook Festival.
Last year they released their EP Open Your Eyes, which achieved the number one spot in the Itunes reggae chart, and it still remains in the top twenty.
Clash music quoted that this song is ‘proving that dance music can still be delivered with a social message’ and Never Enough Notes go as far to say that ‘Dub’s not dead!’
