Country music is not all about cowboy hats and line-dancing as The Light show off all that is great about this genre with their new single Days Don’t Get Me Far Enough Away.
This is the first track from the band since they signed with The Birdman Records earlier this year and sees the band build on their break through year in 2011.
This is an upbeat and guitar driven track that has you dancing along from the opening chord to the very last - it really is a catchy track.
They have taken the best elements of the country genre and interweaved this with an upbeat pop feel, and the two elements come together really well.
Liz Shiels once again shines on vocals and they are allowed to take centre stage without being drowned out by an over produced backing track - and we have been seeing far too much of that in this genre of late.
The vocals are mixed with some great harmonies and melodies not to mention the lyrics of this track are beautiful.
The Lights could well give the likes of Mumford and Sons and Noah and the Whale a run for their money in this genre and I am excited to see what they do next. The Lights - Days Don’t Get Me Far Enough Away is out now
