Neon Trees released their debut album Habits back in 2010 and now they are back with their second offering Picture Show - and it is one hell of an infectious record.
The multi-platinum four piece are back with a great new collection of tracks that sees them mix rock and pop with great results.
Moving In The Dark kicks off the record and it is one of the catchiest tracks on the record; the perfect way to start kick off.
This, along with many of the tracks on the first half of the record, is a hook driven song that you will struggle to get out of your head.
Tyler Glenn is sounding terrific on vocals and he brings a real energy and charisma to this track that drives it forward.
Teenage Sounds has a bit of a punk sound to it as it kicks off and this is another really strong track on the record.
We get the chance to hear the deeper end of Glenn’s vocal at the beginning of this track and he shows that he has a real richness to his voice - would be great to hear a little more of this bottom range.
Much like the opening track there is a real energy to this track and that is thanks to the driving guitar that is present from start to finish.
Everybody Talks was one of the early singles lifted from this record and this has a very indie pop feel to it; the tracks moves from a strumming verse to an incredibly poppy and catchy chorus.
Mad Love and Weekend continue this pulsating pop/rock tradition and the first half of the album really is the strongest.
While the second half of the album is enjoyable it never quite captures the intensity and the fun of the first six tracks.
Neon Trees have a knack of writing incredibly infectious and catchy tracks and Picture Show really is packed with them.
They deliver great melody after great melody and the slight way that they alter their sound with each track really does keep this album interesting.
