Robben Ford is widely regarded as one of the best guitarists of the 20th century and he is back with his new album Bringing It Back Home.
If rock and Blues is your thing then this is the record for you as he brings together eight fantastic covers with two original tracks.
What is so fantastic about this record is it is as much about the guitar solos and the instrumentation as it is about the vocals.
Everything I Do Gonna Be Funky kicks off the record and it is a track that mixes rock, with Blues as well as a bit of jazz.
And while the guitar solo does take centre stage in the middle of the song the trumpet that features has just as great an impact.
Birds Nest Bound has a sultry feel to the music and the vocal and it is one of those tracks that just washes over you - it really is one of the best on the record.
Ford doesn’t do anything fancy with the vocal - not just on this track but throughout the whole record - but this simplicity is something that works incredibly well.
This is an album that is all about the songs and the music and Ford has no need for any producing gimmicks as his guitar playing is more than enough to hold your attention.
The guitar solo in the middle of Birds Nest Bound is completely mesmerising as Ford shows just why he is a Grammy nominated musician.
This album really is one big jam session for Ford and you can tell that he has just the best time putting this record together.
Every track is brought to live by the solos and the instrumentation and it is great to see him release an album that really does show off his guitar playing prowess.
