Dub step isn’t my favourite genre of music, although I respect that lots of creativity is involved in the craft of the genre.
Dubwiser may be an artist I am unfamiliar with, but after hearing the EP Dubwiser Dancehall I think that the reggae and dub step complement each other well.
The first track on the EP is Eye Popper, featuring the vocal and song writing talents of Spider J who has twenty years of experience in the music industry. The reggae influence is clear in this track, with plenty of wobbles, drops and heavy bass.
Pedantic is the next track which features Scrutineer the former Execution Squodd member. It begins with an excerpt from a well-known cartoon, with Tweety Pie opening the song with his famous line ‘I thought I saw a pussy cat.’
This track is bizarre but the mixture of reggae, hip-hop and dub step actually creates a unique and satisfying sound.
Dubwiser Groove features an unknown producer and multi-instrumentalist from New York. The only information we know is that this person is known as EB.
With groovy beats, dub step wobbles and rap-like vocals it is completely different from the other two tracks on the album.
Rise Up features Burnt Brasse, with smooth vocals, reggae beats and brass instruments this track moulds different genres of music perfectly together.
EP 1 is the first in a series of releases featuring a host of stars alongside some of the hottest talent in the UK Urban scene, expect more to come from Dubwiser Dancehall in the next year.
