Real get up and go music.
The Trade are a Rock band from Angus, Scotland that formed five years ago and originally started out as a cover band. After they started writing their own songs they worked on 13 songs and created a demo collection called ‘Empire’ and gave it to strangers and fans and their fan base rapidly grew.
They released their first full album ‘Lie in the Dark’ in 2010 and they have worked hard over the last couple of years gigging in some of Scotland’s greatest venues and they have now released their new album ‘FU-GO.’ There are 11 new songs from the band, a mix of soft rock ballads and upbeat anthems to please every music lover and Indie-Rock fan.
Unlike some of the hard rock bands that I have come across The Trade have an easy-listening rock edge to their sound. ‘Beauty and the Beast’, the second track on the album is an example of this. With an overlay of electric guitars, soft riffs and soothing male vocals The Trade create an edgy but highly infectious sound.
The main vocalist Ross Milne has a raspy but soothing voice but it blends nicely with the backing track, I personally prefer this type of voice in this genre to the gritty Rock voice of someone like David Grohl from The Foo Fighters. The Trade have the ability to hold back slightly when it comes to vocals and the News Of The World’s Tim Barr as a band comments on the band by saying their music is ‘misty-eyed ambitious stuff – inside is a world beating anthem fighting to get out.’
They know how to almost perfectly pull the strings of emotion with several of the ballad-like songs on the album; some of these include ‘Lady Get over You’ and ‘Lifelines.’ The majority of the songs on the album ‘FU-GO’ can only be described as upbeat soft rock with powerful foot stomping choruses. The song I really liked was track nine on the album ‘Missing Out’, I really liked the message behind the lyrics and I felt that this song showed Ross Milne’s strongest vocals.
The Trade have put blood, sweat and tears into their new album ‘FU-GO’ and with their hard work and tours around the country they are becoming more well known in the Indie-Rock world. Christopher Hammer from the all gigs website states that ‘The Trade are exactly what new indie bands have to be like if they’re aiming to make their mark.’ They are getting positive feedback from their music so watch this space because in a few years they could be one of the biggest Indie-Rock bands in the UK.
