Opening like an old Western film that then transforms into a reggae, jazz anthem-filled collection, this is one of the most unpredictable records for some time - and we love it.
A cover of the song Joe Cang co-wrote with Aswad, 'Shine', is the first track on the EP and proves this guy isn't just another songwriter who wishes he could lend his voice to the songs he creates.
Country and soul are genres that also find their way interwoven throughout and we're fortunate enough to be treated to seven tracks - none of which seem like fillers.
This is quite simply a brilliant handful of songs that have us excited for side two, and praying for some inventive music video releases sooner rather than later
'Better Place (Side One)' is released today, October 7 via Mondo Records.
