It has taken Jodie Marie four years to write and record her debut album Mountain Echo but this week sees the twenty year old finally releases the record.

Wales has a knack of producing great musical talents and Jodie Marie looks set to be the next big thing as Mountain Echo is a powerful record - she has a voice and writing skills way beyond her tender years.

The album is front loaded with her singles On The Road and I Got You, two of the more upbeat tracks on the album.

Marie grew up on a diet of Blues music and she has incorporated that with a powerful pop beat to deliver a debut album that is so easy to listen to - you can‘t help but get caught up in the beautiful melodies and the meaningful lyrics.

Her emotional lyrics and beautiful voice really do pack a punch as she mixes those upbeat tracks with some stunning ballads, Mountain Echo being a particular standout.

But blues is not the only type of music on the album as a country and folk sound on Like A Runaway show that she is a very versatile singer - not only from her vocal perspective but in her song writing ability.

The acoustic sound of Like A Runaway is perhaps the track that shows off Jodie’s vocals in the best light and what is so exciting is she still has so much growing to do as a singer and a songwriter.

There is some great guitar work going on on this album what is so great is it’s not over produced and Jodie’s vocals are allowed to take centre stage.

Jodie has poured emotion and feeling into the writing of these songs as she contrasts lyrics of love in I Got You to heartache in Numb.

There is a real timeless feel to Mountain Echo as she sings about universal themes of love, heartache and pain, something that we can all relate to you.

But Jodie’s vocals just wash over you and pull you into this great record - and yet the vocals are never over the top or trying to achieve too much.

Mountain Echo is an album that can be enjoyed by an audience of all ages and I can’t wait to see her develop as an artist.
