Rating: 4/5
Jenn Bostic grabbed everyone’s attention at the end of last year with the release of her debut single Jealous of the Angles and now she is back with her first full length album Jealous.
Bostic is a talent that we all need to keep an eye on over the next couple of years as she is an artist with a terrific voice - something that she really does show off on this new record.
This is an incredibly personal and moving record as Bostic really does pay homage to her father - who passed away some years ago.
But this is by no means a depressing or sombre record; in fact it is quite the opposite as it celebrates life more than anything.
Change kicks off the album and really is a very catchy pop track that shows that Bostic is more than just a power ballad singer.
It may be a pop track but Bostic shows off that incredibly powerful voice of hers and this is a song that really will get stuck in your head.
There is a change in pace with Jealous of the Angels as Bostic pours her heart and soul into this track as she sings about the death of her father.
This is a song that is incredibly powerful and will really resonate with anyone who has ever lost somebody - it really is a highlight of the album.
She returns to this subject with Just One Day - another piano driven track - as she sings about her wish for her father to see who she has become.
Much like Jealous of the Angels this is another incredibly powerful and raw track that sees Bostic really wear her heart on her sleeve.
Jealous is a terrific album from start to finish that is both moving as well as uplifting and Bostic is a star in the making.
This is clearly an album that is very close to hear heart and Bostic is brave to bare her soul in such a way - but it does give the record that extra punch.
Jenn Bostic is a singer with an incredible voice and she really is on the verge of being huge. Jealous is an album about love, loss and celebrating life and it is a record that you really should check out.
