One of the albums that is absolutely not to be missed next month is Upon Ayr by Fletcher as this is the debut record from the singer songwriter.
This is an album that infuses light rock with guitar pop and it is as close to a perfect debut record that you will ever hear.
It’s Coming For Us kicks off this mesmerising record and immediately you hear just what musical talent he is as this track just washes over you.
The twinkling piano is a nice touch and gives the song a unique sound - not to mention Fletcher is on fine for vocally.
What is so great about all of this record is that Fletcher has not done anything over produced with the vocals as he has just let his voice tell the stories that he has written.
Fletcher is a very vivid songwriter as he paints a picture with every word that you really cannot help but get swept away with the imagery that he great.
Open Up is another gem of a track that has a real energy to it - not to mention it has an absolutely terrific video to go with it.
Blasko features on the acoustic track Simple Life and the pair almost play a game as they sing alternate phrases throughout the song.
This is one of the best tracks on the album as these two voices fit so perfectly together - it is one of the many soothing moments on the record.
I doubt we will be treated to a finer debut album this year and Upon Ayr as Fletcher shows that he is not only a great vocalist and songwriter but also musician as he plays many of the tracks on this album.
What is so hard to believe is this album was recorded on ‘stolen’ studio time and this so easily could have been a collection of tracks that we never got to hear - a frightening thought indeed.
Upon Ayr is an album that has real feeling as Fletcher brings real heart and authenticity to every track and word that he sings.
This is a compelling album from start to finish and one that is not to be missed.
