Gearing up for the release of his brand new and live EP 'Live At Hunter Club' recorded at the Bury St. Edmunds venue, Ethan Ash is an artist we've championed before here at Female First, and for good reason. He's an immensely talented young singer/songwriter who has in the past few years supported and written for some of the biggest names in the industry, such as Ed Sheeran, Seth Lakeman and Passenger.
Proving his worth, Ash kicks his live session off with a beautiful rendition of the emotional 'Face To Face', a track with an incredibly simple yet stirring melody that lifts the impressive vocals on offer to the next level.
'Long Drive Home' follows and seems to challenge with some of its chords, but its Ash's rawest moments which are the most charming, with moments sounding almost like a short yodel. It paves the way nicely for third song 'Chasing Your Love' which details the journey love takes from childhood right up until adult life. It's an upbeat piece that should leave a smile on the face of any listener. Short but sweet, it's the highlight of a very strong collection.
Amy Wadge co-writes on 'Don't Regret Me' which sees Ethan at his most vulnerable, again speaking to a loved one whom he cannot say enough good things about. It's a gorgeous piece that has to be heard to be appreciated.
The EP concludes with 'Boy Like Me' which again challenges the singer. At times Ash is a little strained but again the tune serves as a reminder of his drive and determination.
'Live At Hunter Club' is an EP that demands the consumer listen to it more than once. Its many layers build to give a great live experience that's almost as good as the real thing. Ethan Ash is an artist to celebrate, and we can't wait to see what he's got coming up next.
New EP 'Live At Hunter Club' is officially released on October 2.
