Emeli Sande is one of the most talked about young British music talents and that star is set to rise even further with a superb debut album Our Version of Events.
The album opens in an upbeat style with her breakthrough single Heaven and while having a really energetic beat to it that shows off her vocal talent.
In fact it’s Sande’s vocals that really are the star of this album and producers have cleverly not overproduced the backing tracks or drowned her out with over energetic backbeats - leaving the vocals to stand out.
And Sande mixes delicate and powerful tones throughout the record, and My Kind of Love is a perfect example of this; the chorus really showing off just what she is capable of.
Our Version of Events tackles subjects of love, losing love and having someone important in your life to lead on.
Sande show off her writing talents producing tracks such as the beautiful Clown and my personal favourite River.
Clown is perhaps the strongest song on the record and it’s about a woman who is looking back at a failed relationship.
It’s a very emotional vocal performance from Sande and there really is a timeless feel to this song and it does have future single written all over it.
Our Version of Events shows off the versatility of this new artist as she shows that she is just as comfortable with upbeat songs as well as beautiful and very heartfelt ballads.
Emeli Sande is a talent that we can all get really excited about as she has a great vocal talent as well as excellent writing skills.
Our Version Of Events is a perfect introduction to her as a musician after hearing this debut record I am looking forward to future albums of which I have not doubt there will be many.
