Wild Swim are already drawing comparisons to the likes of Tears for Fears and Foals and this week we are introduced the five piece and their sound with their EP Echo.
Now I am not sure that you can call a two songs and two remixes an EP but they are tracks of the highest quality - seriously there is only one way that these boys are going and that is up.
Echo is the first track and it is a rousing track that has many textures as well as some fantastic sounding soundscapes it really is a track that will wash over you and carry you away.
Echo is a track that has a real presence as well as a passion and a flair - not to mention it is a very different sounding track compared to most of the most that has been released so far this year.
Richard Sansom has a unique and yet beautiful voice that is both powerful and delicate on this track - a juxtaposition that works really well.
Bright Eyes has a completely different sound to it as it is more of synth driven track - in just two songs Wild Swim show two very different sides to themselves as musicians.
Sansom shows off the lower end of his vocal with this track and it is just as mesmerising and powerful at the top end of his voice.
Wild Swim promise to be one of the most exciting bands of 2013 as with Echo and Bright Eyes they demonstrate that they are a band that are willing to experiment with their own sound - they are not interested in just sticking to one genre.
It’s a shame that there are only two tracks on this EP - there are two remixes of Echo - as I would like to have heard more from the band with this release.
