Tall Ships have been gaining fans left right and centre this year with the release of singles T=0 and Gallop and this week they are back with their album Everything Touching.
The band have promised much over the last few months and they really have delivered with this fantastic record - this is one that is not to be missed.
Former single T=0 is the first track on the album and it really is one of the most epic songs making it a fantastic opener.
You have to wait nearly two minutes for the vocals to kick in but the instrumental introduction is such a powerful one.
And even when the vocals do kick in they are very minimal and this track, much like Best Ever, is very mush about the instruments.
Best Ever is an instrumental tracks and it is one of the best tracks on the record. The track moves back and forward between loud and quiet moments before it triumphantly crescendos at the end.
It’s a brave move to open an album with two tracks that have virtually no vocal on but it just works so well and really does pull you into the rest of the record.
Phosphorescence is the first track where we really hear the vocal talents of Ric Phethean and he has a very deep and rich tone that almost has a mesmerising quality to it.
Gallop is another one of the stand out tracks on this album and it is perhaps one of the most anthemia songs.
The track, much like the rest of the album, is full of energy and it really does show off their great indie/rock sound to its full potential.
Everything Touching is an album where no two tracks are the same and yet they all fit so perfectly together as the band deliver knockout track after knockout track.
Towards the end of the album for example Idolatry shows off a softer side to Phethean’s vocals it is one of the quieter and most beautiful moments.
This is an album that will totally wash over you and captivate you track after track as Tall Ships have delivered a collection of near perfect songs.
Everything Touching is a total triumph and just gets better and better with every listen. Tall Ships really a band that we should be keeping an eye one.
