It has been six years since Steve Adey last released an album as All Things Real was released to critical acclaim back in 2006.
But this week sees the singer song-writer return with The Tower of Silence which is another very eclectic sound record
He mixes sounds, emotions and track lengths to create an emotionally charged and interesting album - you won’t have heard too many like this in 2012.
A Few Seconds Have Passed is the opening track on the album and it is an instrumental introduction to Adey’s new collection of tracks.
It is a peaceful and calming ninety seconds and it really is one of the most beautiful music moments on this record.
Laughing is the first full length vocal song on the album as Adey teams up with Helena MacGlip. Adey’s deep and brooding vocal goes perfectly with the more haunting sound of MacGlip and they create quite a haunting sound together.
There instrumentation is kept to a minimum and well and truly in the background so the listener can concentrate on these two voices coming together.
Just Wait Till I Get You Home starts off as an acoustic track before Adey adds a touch of electronica to give the track that little bit of extra something.
But the electronica is kept to a minimum as Adey keeps the focus on the vocals and on his song-writing ability.
Much like his debut album Adey has penned tracks that are emotive and visual and his emotional vocals really bring them to life.
There are no two tracks on this album that are the same as Adey experiments with his sounds and the music that he wants to make - and yet he moves from genre to genre with the greatest of ease.
Each track may be different to the others and yet they all fit together seamlessly and perfectly to create and album that is an incredibly interesting listen. However it will not be to everyone’s tastes.
