Album: Where Is My Moon? EP
OUT NOW
Rating: 4/5
Sivert Høyem is back this week with his new EP Where Is My Moon? Which is his first release since Long Slow Distance last year.
Long Slow Dance was quite a dark record that was full of angst but Where Is My Moon? is a much lighter record.
Where Is My Moon? Is the opening track on the EP and Høyem has such a rich and hypnotic voice that he will draw you in for the opening note to the very last.
This is the best track on the EP as it is such a beautiful ballad while Høyem paints a real picture with his lyrics.
There is a heartfelt feel to this track and emotion just pours from Høyem without this ever being a sombre of downbeat track.
Autumn In Arcadia is perhaps a little bolder track than the opening song and there is a great melody that flows throughout the whole song.
Once again the deepness of Høyem’s vocals is truly stunning and they are supported by fantastic strings as well as some great guitars.
So-Lo is another great ballad that is really all about Høyem’s vocal as he is supported by an acoustic guitar.
I Was A Rolling Stone on the other hand is an upbeat track that has a blues feel to - which is something completely different to the rest of the EP.
Sivert Høyem is an incredibly visual musician as he paints such vivid pictures with his music and with his words - he really does have the power to transport listeners.
Where Is My Moon? Is a very beautiful record from start to finish that really shows off a lighter side to Høyem.
There is an emotion and a sincerity in his music that really strikes a chord and you can’t lost in the imagery and the feelings that he provokes.
