Rating: 3.5/5
Seb Stone has a wide range of influences from funk, urban, pop and reggae and all that is on show in his new EP Ordinary You.
Stone has already whipped up a storm with his music this year with the release of Human EP and now there is new collection of tracks to enjoy.
Stand is the opening track on the EP and it is the most infectious of the collection and perhaps the song with the most pop influence.
The beat is so catchy that you will be humming along long after the track has finished he mixes that with punchy drums as well as a heavy bass line - the latter of which kicks in about half way through.
There is a real anthemic feel to this track and it one of those songs that you know will just sound great live.
With Me really does show off Stone as a great song-writer as this is a track that is packed with incredibly honest lyrics.
The verse is where he really tells his story moving more into rap/spoken word before reverting to singing in the chorus. This is a great mix of styles and shows a really versatility to this artist.
He changes the genre again with Out as he adds a rock element to this track not to mention there is an bit of reggae sound to the track.
Seb Stone is an artist that jumps from genre to genre with ease and is comfortable and thrives in all of them.
Ordinary You is a great collection of tracks that shows off Stone as a songwriter as well as a great vocal talent.
