Needtobreathe are back this week with their fourth studio album The Reckoning and this really is an album that is not to be missed.
The band may have experimented with their sound for the last couple of years but The Reckoning sees them return to their rock best - and this is where they really thrive.
Oohs and Ahhs is the opening track on the album and the trademark riffs and falsetto vocals are there from the very beginning.
This is perhaps one of the rockiest tracks that the band have done for a while and it really is a fantastic introduction to the rest of the record.
The track crescendos into an instrumental at the end of the song as the electric guitar is mixed with the trumpet to bring it to rousing close.
White Fences is one of the best tracks on the album and is a chance of pace from the opening song as the southern elements of previous records comes flowing through.
There is a real anthemic feel to this track as the rousing chorus is the heart and soul of this track.
Drive All Night is another track that is a major highlight and it is one of the most radio friendly songs on the album.
There is just a really laid back feel to this incredibly catchy record. There is a great balance between controlled and quite quiet versus before the beat kicks in for a chorus that will just sweep you away.
A Place Only You Can Go is a moment to take a breathe as it is one of the ballads on the record.
It is a moment to really appreciate Bear Rinehart's fine vocal - it is rich and packed with emotion and this track shows it off in all of it's glory.
The Reckoning is the best album from NeedToBreathe so far as this is a rock album that is infused with the southern sounds as well as the Christian element that they have become so famous for.
So yes it is a rock album but there is a bit of a moral compass to this record as these tracks have deep and meaningful lyrics for the listener to interpret in their own way.
Seriously this is a record that is not to be missed as NeedToBreathe are on top for both musically and lyrically.
