Marcus Foster is back this week with his new EP The Last House - a collection of six tracks that are his most diverse to date.
Worn Down By Time is the opening track on the EP and it has a soft acoustic sound that beautifully supports Foster’s husky and emotional voice.
There is a real grit and gravel to Foster’s vocal and the emotion pours out with every word and you can hear a real pain.
The simplicity of the track is its strength as he just allows his voice to capture everyone’s attention and tells a story with his lyrics.
I Won’t Let Love Get In The Way is one of the most sorrowful tracks on the record and there is a real folk sound to the song.
There is a soft female voice on the track and it fantastically contrasts with Foster’s ruff and gravely tones.
Foster song writing ability is one of the strongest aspects of him as an artist as he really paints a picture with his words.
And In This Town is a perfect example as it is an incredibly reflective song - and is perhaps the most personal track on this record.
In This Town has a really raw feeling to it as Foster bears his heart as well as his soul in what is a very powerful track.
He mixes up the sound with Strange Wood as he injects a bit of Blues to take is sound down a completely different path.
There is some distortion on the vocal and it is an effect that works well and shows off a different side to his voice - Foster really does show his power and range.
The Last House is a great collection of track from this very talented singer-songwriter. He puts his own stamp on these songs with his unique vocals as he shows once again that he is an exciting musical talent.
