Rating:  4/5

It has been seven years since Lisa Marie Presley last released an album but after the long wait the singer-songwriter is back with Storm & Grace.

Working on the album saw Presley move to England and work with some song-writers such as Richard Hawley and Ed Harcourt.

Storm & Grace sees Presley take the sound of her music down a completely new path as this time around she has delivered tracks with a rootsy and Americana sound.

Over Me is the opening track on the album and you immediately hear that Presley has tried something new with her sound as the deep twangs of the guitar strings give the song a real depth.

The echoey guitars and the shuffling backbeat sound fantastic not to mention Presley’s vocal is on fine form.

She has always had smouldering and sultry sound to her voice - a sound that never really went well with a pop sound - but this rootsy and Blues sound goes hand in hand with her voice.

You Ain’t Seen Nothin’ Yet shows off the quality of Presley’s lower range as her voice and the music just wash over the listener.

This track has more of a vindictive tone to it and it perhaps one of the darker tracks on the album. That sound quickly changes with Weary which is one of the more stripped back tracks.

The production on this track is very simple and Presley’s beautifully rich vocal is left to hold the audience’s attention - the guitar proving to be the perfect support.

There isn’t a single weak track on this album as she moves from the confidence of Over Me to the underlying sadness of Close To The Edge.

And on every track Presley has kept production to a minimum and there are some fantastic musicians on this record.

There is a real rawness to all of the tracks on this album and you can feel the emotion and parts of herself that Presley has poured into her music with this record.

This is perhaps the most intimate and personal album that she has recorded to great and with ever track she really does tell a very powerful and emotional story.

Storm & Grace is a triumphant return to music for Presley after seven years away and she really has found where she belongs with her sound.
