Rating: 5/5
House Of Hats cased a bit of a stir with their debut album and now they are set to do the same with the release of House of Hats.
Yes the Brighton based quartet are back with one of the best EP's that have been released so far this year as they have delivered a soothing folk influenced album.
Rivers Will Run is the opening track on this four song EP and it is a strong opening as they have created this mesmerising sound.
It's a fast paced track that just washes over you as the pulsating rhythms carry you away - throw in some fantastic harmonising and a deep and rich vocal and you have a fantastic track.
Gold is the second track on the EP and it is sees the band go back to the sound that we are use to hearing from them - an acoustic offering that sees males and female vocals wrapped together.
The acoustic element gives this track a really stripped back feel and allows the soulful vocals take centre stage.
This is a really beautiful track and, in my opinion, the best on the EP as it is a touching song with heartfelt lyrics.
Never Lost is also an acoustic driven track and it is an incredibly soothing track as House Of Hats do what they do best.
Once again the mix of male and female vocal coming together is easy to listen to and once again their tight harmonies just take you away.
Home Is Where The Heart Is brings the four track EP to a close as they move away from the guitar and turn to the piano.
Rivers Will Run is a fantastic EP that sees House Of Hats at their very best - would liked to have heard more of them.
