Halfway to New York have been making quite a name for themselves on the live circuit over the last few months not just in the UK but also in the U.S.
And this week they release their debut EP Treading Water that gives everyone a taster of what they are about.
Treading Water is a fantastic collection of tracks and it’s not hard to see why everyone is getting more than a little excited about these boys.
Treading Water is the opening track and it easy on the ear track that is full of stunning melodies before the track really kicks in.
They mix quiet verses with a more energetic and powerful bridge and chorus and the contrast really does work well.
And while there is a real energy to this band and also this track Sam Burkey's vocals are just dripping with emotion and he also pulls his vocal back in the verse before letting it fly in the chorus.
What A Way To Go is another high energy guitar driven track that once again shows that the band really can put together some great melodies.
The track opens with a great guitar riff before the vocals kick in and this is just the perfect song for radio.
Out Of Time is the most upbeat track on the EP and it's not hard to see why this was their debut single as I defy you not to find yourself tapping your feet along as you listen to it.
We Were Wrong is one of the most popular tracks amongst the fans when Halfway To New York play live and there is a real anthemic feel, particularly as the energy and the power of the chorus kick in.
Going Home is the only new track on the EP but it is perhaps the most exiting as it hints at what is to come when a full album is finally released.
And Going Home is the track that is filled with the most passion and the guitars really give this track a kick.
Treading Water is a great introduction to Halfway To New York as their vocal, instrument and song writing capability are well and truly on show here in all of the five tracks.
The boys are currently penning their debut album and I personally can't wait to see what they have to offer.
